Honors Grading Policies

Grade Requirement for Honors Credit
You must receive a grade of a B- or above in order to receive "Honors credit" in an Honors section or a course converted to Honors credit. Honors credit cannot be earned for courses taken on a pass/fail basis.

Participation Requirement
Honors credit can be earned in a number of ways including Honors sections, Honors conversions, graduate courses, independent study courses, and thesis courses. For courses not listed on the Honors Course List, you must complete a conversion form, including independent study courses and thesis courses. There is an exception for graduate courses. They do not require a conversion form they will be counted as Honors credit towards graduation but will not appear with the "Honors credit" notation on your transcript. You must earn Honors credit at least once per academic year, if you do not, you may be eligible for dismissal based on non-participation.

Honors Credit Notations on Transcript
Please be sure that each course taken for Honors credit appears with the "Honors credit" notation after grades have posted and conversions have been processed (usually 3-4 weeks after the end of the semester).

"Honors credit" notations are used in the:
-Recognition of your Honors work
-Evaluation of your Sophomore Honors application
-Evaluation of Honors Scholar Graduation
