Advising Students Who are Multiple Majors, Dual Degrees, Transfers, or Athletes
Advising Students Interested in Multiple Majors or Dual Degrees
- Dual degrees - (called an “Additional Degree” in the Catalog, see that publication for information on how to earn dual degrees) are either earned from two different schools or colleges or are earned in the same school or college but the multiple majors result in both a BA and a BS.
- Double majors - are earned in the same school or college and result in the same degree of BA or BS.
Whether an honors student is earning a dual degree or a double major, he/she usually chooses one major in which he/she will earn honors. If the student decides to earn honors in both, then he/she must meet the requirements for honors in each major. The student will either write a thesis for each major or write a thesis that sufficiently covers the two areas. On a double major transcript and diploma the designation “honors” is not tied to one major. back to top

Advising Student Athletes
Talk to the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes’ (CPIA) representative for the student’s team. The representative should be able to share information about any practice times and away games that may occur during class hours. The CPIA website also contains information about the Tutor Program and other opportunities for student support. back to top
